Siler Horror Movie Night 2024

For this year's horror movie night, we will be having two movies like most of the previous years: One lighthearted horror movie and one serious horror movie.
Information regarding the movies we'll be watching, the costume contest, the art contest, the story collaboration, and more below!
Movies will be scary so we recommend to find a babysitter for the children.
We're also having a costume contest and an art contest! Rules below for each.
We'll have some alcohol and snacks, but encourage everyone to bring more of each to provide variety!

ART CONTEST
RULES:
- Must present art on the day of
- Art has to be related to horror and/or horror movies!
- Any medium is welcome
- Don't make us question if it technically is art or not - No 4'33" by John Cage!
- Form will be available to everyone to vote for the winner!

COLLAB STORY
There will be a typewriter inside so that everyone can add a sentence to a story. I've started it off with a single sentence - each person can add another sentence onto it and whatever the final product is, it will be a very enjoyable read!
A few things to know about the typewriter:
- It's in need of some TLC
- Please type slowly
- They say to strike the keys "like they're hot" - a jab at the key so that the type slug quickly comes up and slaps the page
- There is a part holding the ink ribbon that comes up every keystroke - sometimes this gets stuck and you need to push it back down.
- This occurs even more when the red ink is enabled
- If the ink ribbon comes off that part, come get me and I'll work on putting it back in
- The Caps Lock doesn't work - you'll need to hold down the Shift Key anyways, but then you'll need to manually lift up the Caps Lock to undo it after, so if you want to do Caps Lock, just hold down the Shift Key instead to save yourself some work.
- Tab doesn't really work - it's hard to explain, but it's probably better to not use it
- Most typewriters have a bell to indicate when you're 10 characters away from the end of the line - this one doesn't have the bell, so use your best judgement to go to the next line.
FUN FACTS!
- This typewriter is a Royal KYM and is very similar to the typewriter used in the movie Misery
- Very little is known about KYMs - the general consensus that I've found online is that these are refurbished Royals likely using leftover parts from other Royal typewriters (Royal 10s, Royal KMMs, and Royal KHMs would be my guess as to the types the parts would come from)
